Squidoo Secrets

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Have you ever wondered what happened to good old fashioned community?

We’ve gotten so used to email bombardment and trashy websites that it’s refreshing to finally
find a place where you can be part of something.

That’s the case with a great site called Squidoo.

I’ve just been learning more about it myself and I love everything I’m seeing about it:

–> It’s free.  Always.

–> You can make an interactive, Web 2.0 webpage in about 10 minutes (these are  called “lenses”)

–> The philosophy behind the site is collaborative.

–> And you can use it to promote whatever business, expertise, service, or hobby you wish.

Now although it’s free, and relatively easy to get started, it’s great to have help in making sense of everything you can do with the site.

I’ve been learning how to use the site a lot faster with the help of Bob The Teacher.

Bob really knows what he’s talking about.

He’s had a lens hit #1 on the site, was picked for Lens of the day a couple of times, and was
even highlighted in the New York Times for his expertise in a really weird topic.

With Bob’s help, I’m learning how to take this free service and use it for affiliate marketing,
list building, expertise branding, and promoting my business.

Would that help you out, too?

He’s offering a full blown video tutorial course for an awesome price, but even better…

You can check out Squidoo Secrets first for free — and see if it’s the kind of thing you’d like to pursue.

Download Bob’s 7 Secrets To Success With Squidoo Apprentice Program.

I can’t believe how much content is on this free course alone!

Although this one interview is worth the paying for, Bob’s giving it away during so you can understand why Squidoo is such a big hit.

After you’ve listened to it and built your first lens, let me know about it!

Bob will offer a more advanced course on Squidoo that I highly recommend.

Duplicate content and how it applies to PLR

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Today I want to go through with you on the duplicate content side of things… there is a lot of talk about duplicate content and how terrible it is.

But before I go into that I want to give you the PLR Process… this has been designed by the guys over at PLRPRO and they have told me that I can give away to you for free.

You can download it at:

PLR PRO Report

This isn’t some basic ‘free report’ that gives you just 15 pages of stuff you usually can’t use.

This is 181 pages, and goes into exact detail on what you need to do to build your content sites.

Ok, as for duplicate content, for the most part, it’s not true, HOWEVER, if you slap up the same article, with the exact same website as someone else, then yep, you’re likely going to fall into problems.

Think about it, the actual content of the site USUALLY makes up such a small portion of the overall page, in a normal site, that automatically your site will be at least 50% different, add in a 25-50% rewrite to the article on top of that, and you’re looking at an almost original page.

Now, there is no hard and fast rule about this… only Google knows what Google knows, and they keep it that way for a reason.

It all comes down to, make sure you are using an original template, (especially when using blogger blogs) and give yourself a healthy rewrite of the articles and you should be fine.

At the end of the day, test, test, test, and test some more. Anyone who says “you should do this” without backing up their claims with test results, with an added “do your own tests” is usually talking the talk without walking the walk.

This was a relatively short email, but it will hopefully give you some clarity on the duplicate content issues that we are seeing.

Oh, one last thing, when you get your articles from a PLR article site, they should be 4-600 words in length, have a keyword density of around 1-3% (although not AS important these days), and be written for HUMANS to read… this means no rehashed junk, no poor grammar/quality.

I will be honest here though, no one is perfect, so allow about a 1% mistake rate, because mistakes DO happen.

To your success,

Debra Garrison

How to use PLR content in blogs

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Hope you thoroughly read the last blog, there was quite a lot of good info in it!

Blogs are brilliant, they really are, the challenge is that they have been used, abused, and are sitting like a ripped up rag doll on the side of the road… and that’s exactly how Google looks at them… unless you’re smart.

You can do this with www.blogger.com because let’s face it, it’s free, but my preference is with Word Press.

Anyway, the point is, blogs are good, they’re easy, useful, and if done right, can get a good whack of traffic for your adsense or affiliate sites.

What you want to do, is try to use an original template… yes this involves a little more work, and I’ll explain why in the next email, but especially when you are using PLR articles, you’ll want to use an original template for yourself.

You’ll also want to rewrite about 25% at least of the articles… if you’re lazy, then you don’t have to do it, but it’s better if you do.

So you’ve now got yourself an original template in your blog, you’ve rewritten your articles by about 25% (preferably at least the title and the first paragraph)… start the blog with 5 articles and put them up on the site straight away, then one every 1-2 days for the next 14 days, then 1 every 3 days for the next 30 days. By now you should have a good indication of whether the site/niche is going to pay off for you.

You’ll also want to take 5 or so articles that you get, and rewrite them by at least 75% and submit them to the directories (like I said in the last email to you).

Now, you can stop there or you can keep going if you like… it basically comes down to adding more content, building more links, and lo and behold, soon you’ll be getting traffic to your blogs, and then it’s up to you to convert them!

Ok, the next email (in 2 days time) is going to be on the duplicate content myth, and my take on the whole scenario.
